Women in Iran Further Oppressed

I don't normally encourage people to take their clothes off in public, but there are days when I wish all the women in Iran would do just that. For them, to take off their hijabbs would be a big deal. If they do it by the thousands, will there be mass rape in the streets of Tehran? Who the heck knows.

"Police in Tehran have been ordering Iranian women to cover up, stopping those they perceive as "badly veiled."

The crackdown followed the 2005 election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

"We are certainly seeing a return to behavior we haven't seen for 10 years," Hadi Ghaemi of Human Rights Watch told The Telegraph. "Generally, the imposition of strict Islamic codes has been increasing under Ahmadinejad.""

Armitage's Silence Helped to Smear President Bush

Newsweek/MSNBC reporter Michael Isikoff has helped the State Department come clean about the Valerie Plame "leak" case. As it turns out, Colin Powell's No. 2 in the State Department, Richard Armitage, was the original "leaker". Of course, she was not actually an undercover agent, but there was an investigation and a big smear job in the press against President Bush and anyone that was backing him. Scooter Libby was absolutely wasted by the press, and Armitage knew all along that he was the man they were looking for. Not a word from him or Colin Powell during the ridiculous trials.

As it turns out, Armitage is not a fan of Dick Cheney nor the war in Iraq, and some of his statements (heresay is reporter in the article) make him sound like a member of the VVAW. Is it any wonder that certain people would rather pick on Libby than Armitage?

Fox News Reporters Freed!

Thank God for big miracles. Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig have been freed after their "conversions" to Islam. I think the kidnappers knew they weren't going to get anything for their troubles and made the two reporters "convert to Islam" in order to save face for themselves. More than likely, Steve and Olaf did NOT convert to Islam, but only said what they were told to at gunpoint to get out of the situation. Add this to the list of bad press for Islam...

Forced religious conversions
Kidnappings
Beheadings of civilians
Burning of civilians
Hatred of Jews leading to murder
Beheading Buddhist monks in Thailand
"honor" killings of women
Oppression of women
Attacking Western countries
Attacking any one that isn't Muslim
Arab Janjaweed genocidal killing of black Africans in Sudan
Muslim charities sending money to terrorists
Performing like animals in front of news cameras
Rampaging over cartoons

I'm sure there is something I've forgotten, but if Muslims want the world to actually believe that their religion is peaceful, they'll have to be alot more convincing about it than they have been. There have been a few fatwas against these kinds of things, but not nearly enough.

And now, some words of wisdom from our favorite retired Marine Colonel, Jkarl!

A WAR THAT IS IN FACT UNLAWFUL

Since it is apparent the hostilities between Israel and its assorted neighbors will not soon fade away, please allow me to indulge you with a bit of an analogy. Just suppose that Ross Perot's Independent Party, being unsatisfied with the political status quo in the United States, negotiated agreements with Canada and Cuba which not only provided him a supply of weapons and material support but also financed his military attacks on us from Mexico, a nation without the military or civil power to resist this incursion.

Does that not sound familiar? If not, you have not been paying attention because that is precisely what is happening to Israel as Syria and Iran are supporting the paramilitary arm of the political party, Hezbollah, which is targeting Israeli cities and civilian populations with rockets fired from Lebanon.

That this is a violation of international law is clearly a no-brainer to anyone who has progressed beyond the 3d grade inasmuch as a political entity which launches lethal attacks against a sovereign state is engaging in criminal activity, little different from organized street gangs, the Symbionese Liberation Army and any other antiestablishment movement in the United States. Regardless of high-minded and passionate platitudes regarding past and present oppression, the indiscriminate employment of explosives to produce death and terror among a civil populace is impossible to justify.

It is likewise beyond comprehension that even those who are unilaterally opposed to Israel or those who are merely armchair critics can condemn that nation for causing collateral damage and civilian casualties for defending itself against aggression, but totally ignore Hezbollah's deliberate targeting of Israel's populated areas. Casualties of war, whether civilian or military, are always deplorable; however, the denial of any nation's option of self defense because it might result in bloodshed is patently absurd.

That war is an abhorrent exercise in death and destruction.....the product of either failed diplomacy or unremitting evil and hatred.....is beyond question........ nevertheless; it is unfortunately sometimes necessary in defense of liberty and freedom. The right of a nation to defend itself against an attack such as that on Pearl Harbor or the Twin Towers is a legitimate response to a war perpetrated by another power, as is Israel's action against Hezbollah's incursion.

While it may come as a shock to some, there are international rules of warfare which are expected to be honored by civilized nations. Military service is an honorable profession and a nation's armed forces must conduct combat operations in a manner which destroys its enemy's ability and will to fight while also minimizing civilian casualties and guaranteeing humane treatment of casualties and prisoners of war. There will always be unintended consequences in warfare, accidental as well as criminal in nature, but any civilized country will attempt to minimize the former and punish the latter.

The intentional launching of weapons against a civil populace while employing the population of that area from which the aggression occurred as a shield is neither honorable nor within the rules established by the Law of Land Warfare. And, it is equally dishonorable to claim foul when the opponent responds in kind by attacking the positions from which the rockets originated while the original aggressor accepts no responsibility for the civilian casualties it deliberately inflicted.

War is an abominable but sometimes a very necessary evil. Its rules require certain conditions to be met and practiced.....none of which are acknowledged by Hezbollah. There may be honor among thieves but it is nonexistent in this marauding, stateless band of terrorist thugs....... every civilized nation should join in its eradication.

Iranian Insanity

The following statements are from Mike Wallace's interview with Mr. Imapajamahead and from other articles released this week on the internet. No commentary is needed.

1 "Wallace tried to ask him about Hezbollah's use of missiles, rockets furnished by Iran, but he wanted to talk about Israel's attacks with American bombs.

"The laser-guided bombs that have been given to the Zionists and they're targeting the shelter of defenseless children and women," the president said."

2 "Human rights groups and concerned individuals worldwide are demanding an end to stoning executions in Iran – and right now are pressuring the head of the Islamic nation's judiciary to lift the death sentence against a 34-year-old mother of two young children.

Under Iran's strict Sharia law, women sentenced to execution by stoning have their hands bound behind their back. They are wrapped from head to toe in sheets before being seated in a pit. The ditch is filled up to their breasts with dirt, and the soil is packed tightly before people assemble to execute the woman by pitching rocks at her head and upper body."

1 "We are opposed to oppression," the (Iranian) president told Wallace. "We support whoever is victimized and oppressed even the oppressed people of the U.S."

3 "Access to other sources of news was curtailed this week when the police began raiding rooftops in Tehran to remove satellite dishes.

Watching satellite television has been illegal as it is seen as the conveyor of decadent western culture. But the ban had not been enforced for a few years and the new campaign has angered many among the 1.5m owners of satellite receivers in Iran who had been drawn to BBC, CNN and others."

1 "commenter Yasmin9: The point is, Iran is not the U.S. Yes, they have ways that are quite uncomfortable to our way of thinking and compared to our own freedoms; however, it is not up to us to change all that country by country. It isn't even working now. Bush is pretending that he is "liberating" women (not) and bringing Democracy."

1 "commenter wingnutjune: Dear America: Thank you for giving my family and I a chance to live freely, make something of ourselves, get the best education and live out our dreams back in 1979! If it wasn't for you... I would be forced to cover myself up to my eye balls, treated like a 3rd class citizen because I'm a woman, most likely beaten, jailed, thrown acid on my face, or even burried up to my neck to be stoned like that poor woman 10 years ago who refused to bow to Islamic law of the land! Again, I say THANK YOU beautiful and free nation! May your loving and open arms never refuse the ones fleeing opperession and dictatorship. Truly you are a nation blessed!Your adopted daughter!

God bless this Marine

Meet Sgt. Jason Thomas. He's a member of the Marine Corp (discharged or retired? but always a Marine) and this man is a hero. When 9-11-01 happened in New York City, he was dropping his little girl off at his mother's. He heard about what was happening and his military training kicked in. He went to help. Just before he got to ground zero, the first building fell. He still went to help.

He is depicted in Oliver Stone's movie "World Trade Center", and Sgt Thomas did not come forward until just the other day. He helped find the two policemen who were trapped and later recovered from ground zero. God bless him!

Even though Sgt Thomas is an extremely handsome man, I put the hearts on his photo for his little girl. I know she loves her daddy.

The Brits have had Enough

Given this last near certain death scenario with several Pakistani Muslims in Great Britain, it seems the attitude towards Muslims in Britain is becoming a bit more angry. One man, Lord John Stevens, an influential former police chief from London, has pretty much hit the nail on the head with his commentary about how Muslims must now take responsibility for what is being preached in their mosques and neighborhoods. I completely agree with him.

"Most of all, when will the Muslim community in this country accept an absolute, undeniable, total truth: that Islamic terrorism is THEIR problem? THEY own it. And it is THEIR duty to face it and eradicate it.

To stop the denial, endless fudging and constant wailing that somehow it is everyone else's problem and, if Islamic terrorism exists at all, they are somehow the main victims.
Because until that happens the problem will never be resolved. And there will be more 7/7s and, sometime in the future, another airplane plot will succeed with horrific loss of innocent life.

Equally important, those British politicians who have seemed obsessed with pandering to, and even encouraging, this state of denial, must throw off their politically-correct blinkers and recognise the same truth—that Muslim terrorism in Britain is the direct responsibility of British Muslims.

If only they would follow the lead of Home Secretary John Reid, whose tough, pragmatic, clear-sighted approach has been a breath of fresh air. Only then can they properly work out how to tackle it. "

Outrageous Convictions against Border Patrol Agents

If you want to read something that will get your dandruff up, have I got the news article for you. These two border patrol agents that work near El Paso have been convicted for shooting at a drug smuggler. This is beyond outrageous and heads need to roll. Why are US border agents being convicted for shooting a Mexican citizen who had 800 lbs of marijuana in his van after he shot one of the agents??? Tells you what kind of people were in that jury box.

Terrorists Caught in London

Today, while watching the tv, a short news clip came up. When the reporter gave the little blurb about the terrorist arrests in London he said something to the effect of, "They are all British born." Does ABC not find it pertinent to mention that they are of Pakistani descent and Muslim fanatics? To me it seemed they were trying to whitewash the whole thing to make it sound as if they were white homegrown terrorists. Let's cut to the chase and call them what they are, MSM.

Atleast Pakistan isn't afraid to call it like it is...
"ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistan said on Friday it had arrested an al Qaeda operative who played a key role in a foiled U.K. bomb plot.
"He is a British citizen of Pakistani origin. He is an al Qaeda operative with linkages in Afghanistan," Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao told Reuters."

Thank you, Pres. Musharaff and co. No thanks ABC news and others.

And to those who have "concerns" about spying on potential Islamic fascists, I share this article...

"The plot was foiled when an undercover British agent infiltrated the UK-based group, and passed information to authorities, FOX News confirmed. The spy was one of the main reasons for unmasking the plot."

To read an excellent news article by FOXnews on this very subject and how this has led to arrests in Italy now, I give you this link.

Joe Lieberman - Independent

Sorry for the confusion, but Republican Jen is at Blogger to stay awhile.

The way that I see the situation in Connecticut is as a loss for the whackadoo left. They thought that Lamont was going to beat Lieberman by double digits which as we now know was not the case. I think it was a 5 point victory, but they expecting more. Now, Lieberman is going to run as an independent and quite frankly, I think he's going to win. The Connecticut population isn't going to put up with having a conspiracy theorist in one of their Senate seats.

My question is... is Diane Feinstein next?

The below entry was moved:
On the matter of Israel/Lebanon/Palestine, it's a known fact that for decades Hamas and Hizballah have wanted to destroy Israel and all the Jews on the planet. So, why is it so hard for people to understand that Israel is defending itself and for the existence of Jews on the planet? For me, this seems like a no-brainer.
Yesterday, a Pakistani Muslim forced his way into a Jewish center in Seattle and proceeded to shoot as many Jewish women as he possibly could. What kind of man attacks unarmed pregnant women in public? A coward. And the press wants to tell us he was 'mentally ill', yeah sure. That's what they all say. And Andrea Yates really is not guilty. Umhm.
Hizballah occupies southern Lebanon and quite frankly, the Lebanese government should be fighting with Israel. Why not help exterminate and run off the cockroaches? Because it's not your ox that's being gored? Do the Lebanese Christians actually believe that Hizballah will not come after them if they successfully destroy Israel? Are these the same Lebanese people who flew American flags alongside their own when Syria finally pulled out of their country? Sounds like there are two different countries inside Lebanon's borders.
Israel is fully justified in defending itself. I'm tired of hearing about an intifada there and I'm tired of hearing about the suicide bombers and it's time to let Israel do something about it. Let the Israelis defend themselves. We'll help them pick up the pieces when the dust settles.
